The University : VIA

VIA is the name of our University. It is located in the East of Horsens, 30 minutes away by walk from our flat in the center.

You have certainly seen a picture of the main hall in the article of the RUS Week.

The building is composed by 7 block and another which host some class room but mainly some start-up. All of the university is pretty new, with modern furniture and high-tech devices. There even is a Wii inside the University.

About the courses

We have begun the second week of courses, so it's time to tell you a little more about our life in Horsens.

We do not have a lot of work hours, but a lot of projects at home. But first, you would probably like to know what we are studying. Here is the list of our courses : Mobile Application, Embedded Operating System, Encryption and Security, Digital and Multimedia (only for me), Java (only for Billy) and of course English.

We call our teacher by their first name with a informal speech. We are in group of 20-30 persons and we have each course once a week for 4 hours.

In Mobile Application, we learn how to develop on Android platform (for smartphone and tablet). We also have to develop a fully functional application and publish it on the "Play Store" (the download center of android apps). The project is built by team of 2 or 3. We don't know yet what we will do.

Encryption and Security is about the different techniques to secure all the data from every digital support as computer, phone, but also credit card. It seems to be the most complicated of our courses.

The aim of Embedded Operating System is to develop a operating system (as Windows, OS X, Android, iOS, Linux...) but much more simple and very tiny on a electronic board. When we talk about Embedded System, we think about all system which are not computer as your car, your phone, the component of a plan cockpit.

Digital and Multimedia is more about how to use software to design digital images as GIMP, Inkscape.

And finally Java, to learn Java programming.

We also have a project with companies. We are working with a company to help them in a project. Guillaume has to develop a web site used to order the product of his company. It is a little more complicated, but we will write another article a little more detailed later. Billy and I are working on a social web site for fitness. We don't know more about it yet. The client want to see us to sign a confidentiality agreement before telling us the details so you probably won't know more about it.

We will tell you more about all the projects in few weeks.

RUS Week

Good morning random citizen !


I want to tell you some news about the RUS Week.
       But what is it ?
Thank you for asking !
This is the week organized by the Tutor Society (the ones who welcome new students). At the beginning of the week, we were affected to a team with other IT Students. Then we had to draw a flag and find a team name.
Then, during the whole week, we played games to earn points. Some games were just made for one team, and others were made to fight against the other team.

We also had a party in a club and another in VIA University.

We have met a lot of foreign people such Italian, Polish, Spanish, Hungarian and so on.

Yesterday, we were invited at an Italian friend's house to eat home made pizza. This was so awesome. We sang some song from our country such as our national anthem or "frère Jacques". We even sang it in Chinese.



Tomorrow is the first day of courses. So we will see what will happen

A little run around Horsens

Good Morning !

We want to share some picture of our first sight of Horsens. Guillaume and I ran around Horsens, from our flat (at Kamjatka Campus) to VIA (the University) then we came back by following the sea. We were both amazed by the view. Here is some pictures !

Travel and Arrival

Good afternoon everybody,



Yesterday night, Billy, Vadim and I met us at Offenburg's train station with our parents. It was a bit sad to leave our family but after a few minute in the train it was forgotten. We had lots of bags as you can see on the picture below and it was rough to install us in the compartment.

The train stopped in many cities like Karlsruhe, Mannheim, Hannover, Hamburg and we changed at Kolding, the first danish city in which we arrived at 8 a.m.All these stops took about 2 hours maybe but it was not a problem, we were with two funny guys in the compartment and we spoke together (in english of course!) all night long.

After that, we took another train to Aarhus and we went down at Horsens. Then, we had to go to VIA University College by bus to take our appartment's key and to sign the last papers with Drosselbo's employees.

We walked a bit around the city to find the flat and then, we discovered our beautiful rooms! 50 square meters each, with all the stuff we needed.
