We have begun the second week of courses, so it's time to tell you a little more about our life in Horsens.
We do not have a lot of work hours, but a lot of projects at home. But first, you would probably like to know what we are studying. Here is the list of our courses : Mobile Application, Embedded Operating System, Encryption and Security, Digital and Multimedia (only for me), Java (only for Billy) and of course English.
We call our teacher by their first name with a informal speech. We are in group of 20-30 persons and we have each course once a week for 4 hours.
In Mobile Application, we learn how to develop on Android platform (for smartphone and tablet). We also have to develop a fully functional application and publish it on the "Play Store" (the download center of android apps). The project is built by team of 2 or 3. We don't know yet what we will do.
Encryption and Security is about the different techniques to secure all the data from every digital support as computer, phone, but also credit card. It seems to be the most complicated of our courses.
The aim of Embedded Operating System is to develop a operating system (as Windows, OS X, Android, iOS, Linux...) but much more simple and very tiny on a electronic board. When we talk about Embedded System, we think about all system which are not computer as your car, your phone, the component of a plan cockpit.
Digital and Multimedia is more about how to use software to design digital images as GIMP, Inkscape.
And finally Java, to learn Java programming.
We also have a project with companies. We are working with a company to help them in a project. Guillaume has to develop a web site used to order the product of his company. It is a little more complicated, but we will write another article a little more detailed later. Billy and I are working on a social web site for fitness. We don't know more about it yet. The client want to see us to sign a confidentiality agreement before telling us the details so you probably won't know more about it.
We will tell you more about all the projects in few weeks.
Keep in touch, another article is coming very soon !

A little run around Horsens
Good Morning !
We want to share some picture of our first sight of Horsens. Guillaume and I ran around Horsens, from our flat (at Kamjatka Campus) to VIA (the University) then we came back by following the sea. We were both amazed by the view. Here is some pictures !

Good afternoon dear readers,
I'm pleased to welcome you on our travel blog.
Before everything, let's have a little description about who we are. Our names are Vadim, Guillaume and Billy. We are three french students in computing at IUT Robert Schuman in Strasbourg, France. We have the chance to be able to go to Horsens, Denmark, to do our forth (and last) DUT's semester with the Erasmus program. We will go to the VIA University College of Horsens.
This University gives us the choice of courses we want to follow. For example, we have chosen "Mobile Application", "Embedded Operating Sytem", "Encryption and Security" and other subjects. We will also have to make a project with a local company. We don't have further detail about it.
And because we go there to improve our English skills, the whole blog will be in English. We'll try to make the less mistakes possible but if you see one, please tell us in the the comments below.
Now, let's talk about our travel.
The departure date is officially fixed : Thursday, January 31st 2013. We will go there by train. We will travel from Offenburg, a little city in Germany, 20 minutes away from Strasbourg by car. The train leave at 8 PM o'clock, we will sleep in. It goes to Kolding, where we will arrive at 7 AM. Then we will take a regional train to Horsens which last an hour.
Once at Horsens, we will have to find a way to go to the VIA Campus, at the other side of Horsens. We will tell you more once we get there. Finally, we will get our flats' keys.
Our flat is located in the city center. we had the choice between city center or on the campus, but we thought that it will be easier to come back home after outing in the evening. Furthermore, the campus is only 10 minutes away from our flat by bike.
The flat surface is about 50 m², shared by two students, in two separated room. There is a full equipped kitchen and a bathroom in each flat. Each room has a bed, a closet and a desktop. Guillaume and I will share one, and Billy will be our direct neighbor. We still don't know who will be the other student in is flat (if there is one).
We'll try to publish as often as possible on this blog, show you a lot of pictures and videos. I think the next post will be write on the train in less than a month.
See you later for the beginning of our adventure.
